I was recently the target of a twitter campaign to get me to bring my CreativeJS workshops to Leeds and Manchester. So many people expressed their interest and who am I to refuse them?

So I’m delighted to announce that I’ve set up venues and dates – tickets go on sale tomorrow (Tuesday 4th October) at mid-day! Register your interest and you’ll get first access to the tickets.

My NYC CreativeJS workshop sold out in a matter of hours* – yay! So I’m pushing my luck and setting up another one on the 11th and 12th October.

Tickets go on sale Monday at noon. As usual you save $300 if you’re a freelancer (or sole proprietor) with code INDIELOVE.

There are also a few tickets left for Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and DC, can you help spread the word? Let me know!

CreativeJS Training US tour

I’ve barely got my breath back after FOTB and my recent workshops, and now I’m taking my CreativeJS training on tour to the US East coast visiting NYC, DC, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.

Tickets go on sale on Thursday at noon (EST) but they usually sell out fast. If you register your interest you’ll get access to the first batch of tickets 24 hours before anyone else.

Three.js tutorial – getting started

Our very first tutorial has gone live on CreativeJS.com. Getting up and running with three.js can be tricky, but hopefully this will make it very easy!

I’ve refactored it since it launched last week – let me know if you find any errors!

It’s with a heavy heart that I leave New York, but I’m very excited to be heading home in a week or so. And America’s loss is Brighton’s gain with the next CreativeJS course in my home town.

It seems like yesterday that I embarked on my US CreativeJS tour, but would you believe it’s been 3 months since I touched down in San Francisco? But my time here has been so good and the workshops went brilliantly; some sold out within hours.

But I can’t wait to get back to my favourite venue, the Lighthouse in the North Laine. This 2 day course will cover all of my favourite JS visual effects and benefit from all the new things I’ve learned over the last few months with lots of bonus material.

As usual, there are only 12 places, and I’ve finely tuned all the parameters to ensure everyone has a good time and learns some practical and fun creative HTML5 techniques.

I’m into my second week here in Manhattan and it’s been pretty exciting so far! Last week I had a tour of Big Spaceship and Brooklyn, and I did Jer’s brilliant Processing workshop on Saturday.

And now it’s back to work! After selling out my workshops in San Francisco and New York (which only took 24 hours!), I’ve quickly set up some more dates for you.

Creative JavaScript and HTML5 training in USA

I think I might be onto something with this CreativeJS training. I’ve been experimenting with the parameters; small class size, good mix of learning and playing, and some time to focus on things the attendees specifically need.

And now I’m coming to America! NYC, San Francisco and Kansas City, to be precise.

The momentum seems to be growing after workshops at SxSW, Amsterdam and Manchester. Check out the #creativejs hashtag on twitter – it’s really nice to see how people take what they learn and continue to play and experiment.

CreativeJS experiments

My Creative JS and HTML5 training is going great – the last session in Brighton worked well, and having reorganised I think I’ve found a good mix of maths and play.

I left an hour or two at the end of the course for the attendees to experiment and consolidate the things they’d learned over the two days, and they all built brilliant stuff! I was really impressed with their creativity and resourcefulness.

Paul King augmented his pre-existing Doom-style ray caster using an easing algorithm to smooth out the camera movement, Rob Hawkes built a lat-long marker on a WebGL rendered Earth, and Carlos Ulloa worked out how to load his racing car model into three.js. Here’s a compilation of some of the best bits :

The course was run on a Thursday and Friday, and I’m really glad it was – the group continued to work on their experiments over the weekend and we all followed along on the #creativejs twitter hashtag.

Needless to say I’ll be doing this again! I’m currently planning sessions in San Francisco, New York City, and Kansas City, and back in Brighton during the summer. Give me your email address and I’ll let you know when they’re announced.

My schedule seems to be filling up over the next few weeks! Firstly there’s another Brighton training workshop : a full 2 days of creative JavaScript training! (One space left!)

Shortly after I’m flying out to FITC Amsterdam, where I’m giving a 1 day CreativeJS workshop and a presentation about the current state of HTML5 and JS. (€75 off an FITC

Then off to my first SxSW where I’m running a 2.5 hour CreativeJS seminar – bring your laptops and sign up here.

I barely get the chance to catch my breath back in England until I venture up north to Manchester for 2 days of training as part of the Technique Digital Retreat. This will be my third and it’s a great event – small groups and a choice of sessions with people like Remy Sharp, Dan Rubin and many more.
