Papervision3D training working files

Thank you for booking to come on one of my Papervision3D training workshops!

First of all, I’d be very grateful if you could complete this pre-attendance survey. It really helps me to gauge the experience and requirements of the attendees.

Secondly, you’ll need a copy of FlashBuilder4 along with the workspace for the files. You can download a trial version of FB4 here.

Check out the SVN repository for the workspace here :

https://sebleedelisle.svn.beanstalkapp.com/training_papervision/FlexWorkspace

If you’re not familiar with SVN or can’t be bothered to set it up, then you can download a zip file instead.

Once you have the workspace folder somewhere convenient on your hard drive, open FlexBuilder. Then go to File->Switch Workspace -> Other and browse to the FlexWorkspace folder.

At this point, all being well you should see all the projects in a window on the left. If you don’t see the list of projects try one of the following :

1 – Go to Window->Package Explorer to make sure the window is there. If you see the package explorer but no projects go to step 2 :

2 – Right click inside the package explorer and select Import, then open the General folder and click Existing Projects into Workspace.

3 – Click the Browse button and navigate to your workspace folder. Click OK and all the projects should magically appear! Click Finish. You may get a requester asking you to choose a Flex SDK version. Select Flex 4 and check the Remember My Decision box.

Your workspace should now be up and running! Test this by opening the first project, 0_PV3DQuickStart by double clicking on it, then double clicking PV3DQuickStart3.as.

Then click the big green play button at the top. All being well you should see a big spinning sphere.

Now return to FlexBuilder and click the debug icon (to the right of the green play button). You should now see the same spinning sphere.

You may find that your system doesn’t open swfs in the Flash debug player by default. There is some information about how to fix this in OSX here. It’s been so long that I can’t remember how to do this on Windows. Sorry!

And hopefully all is well! If this didn’t work for you please let me know. Mail me at sebleedelisle at gmail.

See you at the workshop!
